why don’t we have school on Martin Luther King Day?
Well Martin Luther King Jr, born in Atlanta Georgia Graduated from Morehouse College, was destined for greatness. He was a man who stood his ground and fought for what he believed in. He did what thousands of African Americans were too scared to do, he spoke his mind. He touched the hearts of millions and with out him we wouldn’t be the way we are today. He opened our eyes and showed us that we all deserve a chance. He was the one who showed us what monsters we are, that judging people by the color of their skin is barbaric. Even though Martin Luther King Jr wasn’t the only one, he was the biggest one, he was the one who really started to open our eyes and opened the door to the others who came after him. Assassinated on April 4 1968, Martin Luther King Jr became a legend, and giving students the day off to celebrate his life is showing respect to him. Even though some kids will just see it as a day off they’ll soon realize that it symbolizes so much more then that. If there is no day to remember him by then he will be forgotten and forgetting Martin Luther King Jr would be like forgetting history.
“A man who won’t die for something is not fit to live.”
“A riot is the language of the unheard.”
